Lynnfield High School Athletic Director Job Description:

  • Report to LHS Principal and LPS Superintendent
  • Oversee the entire operation of the LHS athletic department
  • Assign and schedule the usage of athletic facilities
  • Assure that all coaches are adhering to the LHS athletic handbook
  • Assure that all coaches are adhering to the MIAA rules and regulations
  • Assure that all coaches have complete knowledge of sport specific techniques and tactics
  • Observe and evaluate each head coaches and recommend re-hiring status to the principal within 30 days of the completion of the season
  • Review all evaluations of assistant coaches and volunteer coaches by each head coach
  • Attend all Cape Ann League (CAL) athletic directors' meetings
  • Follow the CAL mission statement
  • Promote all aspects of the athletic program; including, but not limited to, academic, athletic, individual, and team successes
  • Address the media in a positive and thoughtful manner
  • Schedule all athletic events
  • Schedule all transportation for away events
  • Maintain a public website with an up-to-date schedule of events
  • Be present at home events or events requiring site administrator
  • Maintain professional development through NIAAA courses
  • Promote sportsmanship and other positive values
  • Provide the Principal and Superintendent with a transparent athletic department budget
  • Maintain a fiduciary responsibility to the Town of Lynnfield
  • Reschedule events due to weather, religious holidays, school emergencies or other extenuating circumstance
  • Hire the best available coaches - check references, CORI, sport specific technical and tactical background
  • Oversee the athletic trainer's performance
  • Ensure that the entire staff, including the trainer, are up-to-date with licenses and professional development
  • Oversee the collection of all user fees, permission slips and other mandated forms
  • Reconcile ticket revenue
  • Maintain a culture of positive sportsmanship
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
