Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time Athletics Head Trainer. This position develops, coordinates and administers a sports medicine program focused on the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Promotes student athlete success through leadership, education, guidance, and training.

Essential Functions

55% - Provides athletic injury management and practice/game coverage, including the prevention, rehabilitation, evaluation and care of athletic injuries; applies immediate treatment such as

bandaging wounds; respiration assistance; and taping, wrapping and padding of extremities to provide physical support; Attends games, practices and events; Facilitates injury prevention and

injury management activities; provides training or first aid related supplies to student athletes

10% - Assists with injury care by utilizing established rehabilitation procedures and provides with care plan implementation; adheres to physician and care provider instructions and care plans

regarding injury treatment

5% - Monitors facility and environmental conditions for athletic safety and the prevention of injury; Addresses equipment or environmental issues; Provides injury prevention programs; provides

information and education related to strength and conditioning, nutrition, health maintenance and other program initiatives

5% - Serves liaison with student athletes, coaches and care providers for consistent implementation of training and care programs

5% - Maintains organization and confidentiality of program safety and medical records for student athletes

5% - Arranges and organizes physical exams, health appointments, or other evaluations for student athletes

5% - Prepares budgets and monitors training program expenditures

5% - Ensures student athletes and programs comply with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD), Region I and Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) regulations, policies and procedures

5% - Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

May supervise multiple full-time and part-time staff. If assigned supervision, the classification is responsible for the full range of performance management, including scheduling, hiring, training, evaluating, and mentoring employees, as well as the implementation of disciplinary or termination procedures as appropriate.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives general supervision and is expected to prioritize work to meet deadlines and to keep superiors informed of any unusual or irregular issues that would be impactful to the program or the District, in consideration of risk management. Typically reports to an Athletic Assistant Director or an Athletic Director.
