Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned including checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam rooms; assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls, and providing pertinent information.
Complete clerical responsibilities as assigned may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
Fit patients and give appropriate instruction on a variety of DME. Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and assist in the coordination of patient care; be proficient in casting and splinting applications and associated procedures including dressing changes, associated applications and suture removal.
Complete organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor.
Availability for sport coverage duties at various events; rounding with contracted high schools and colleges to provide care, assistance and education to injured athletes.
Fulfills clinical medical assisting responsibilities, which include checking vital signs; physical examination preparations; prescription verifications with physician’s orders; laboratory procedures including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines; quality control methods; emergency first aid.
*Medical assistants must adhere to the MA scope of practice in the laboratory and practice based on NYS guidelines.
Work as part of a team along with Physicians, APPs, Licensed Nurses, Receptionists and all other staff.
Complies with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements:
Candidates must have at minimum a bachelor’s degree and be a NYS Certified Athletic Trainer; excellent interpersonal skills and customer service attitude
Preferred: experience working as an MOA or ATC in an athletic environment
