    Weekly Game/Treatment Hours: ~ 22.5 hours of Sports Coverage, 17.5 hours of PT Clinic Coverage as a PT Tech

    Location: Harrison ONS Physical Therapy Clinic & Iona University

    Position: Full time; 40 hours/week

    Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, Friday, Saturday

    What you'll do:

    As an Athletic Trainer working with Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS) and in partnership with the Iona University Club Rugby, responsibilities as noted below:

    Responsibilities/Duties:

    • Evaluates athletes' physical conditions and advises and treats players to maintain maximum physical fitness for participation in athletic competition.

    • Prescribes routine and corrective exercises to strengthen muscles.

    • Performs manual and soft tissue techniques to alleviate pain, restore function/motion and diminish edema.

    • Utilizes taping, wrapping/strapping techniques to prevent and help support injured areas.

    • Uses modalities as appropriate for patient care.

    • Renders emergency management and first aid to injured players, including but not limited to giving artificial respiration, cleaning and bandaging wounds, splinting, immobilizing and spine boarding

    • Works with physicians to provide a continuum of care to patients.

    • Confers with physical therapy team members individually and in conference to exchange, discuss, and evaluate player information for planning, modifying and coordinating treatment programs.

    • Maintains accurate documentation of care of players in EMR.

    • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion.

    • Assist with administration of pre-participation and exit physicals

    • Acts as a liaison with the team physician and ONS physicians to refer athletes for evaluation and diagnostic imaging when warranted

    • Coordinates formal Physical Therapy, imaging, and follow-up appointments for athletes with allied healthcare professionals

    • Set-up and breakdown of all athletic training supplies needed for practices/games

    • Communication with coaches regarding treatment plan for injuries and adequate injury prevention

    • Determines if a player is capable of continued participation in a game and/or practice if the player is injured

    • Organizes, inventories, and requisitions medical team and team supplies.

    • Performs other duties as needed

    • Performs duties as assigned in the Physical Therapy Clinic:

    • Maintains cleanliness of treatment tables, equipment and gym area

    • Expedites patients to/from treatment areas, sets ups modalities like cold laser, hot packs and cold packs

    • Stocks treatment areas daily, assists in inventory supply

    • Works directly with Physical and Occupational Therapist to ensure proper execution of Therapeutic Exercise

    • Follows all HIPAA rules as instructed.

    • Follows ONS' policies and procedures.
