Job Summary

The Athletic Trainer works as part of an interdisciplinary performance team (PT, strength and conditioning, dietetics, behavioral/cognitive, OT) to improve readiness, reduce musculoskeletal injuries, and enhance overall physical and mental resilience. The role is full-time, on-site, and highly interactive with participants during training, recovery, and testing activities (e.g., fitness assessments and field training).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prevention-focused care, acute injury management, and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries in an active population.

  • Collaborate daily with physical therapists, strength coaches, dietitians, cognitive/performance experts, and occupational therapists to develop integrated care and performance plans.

  • Implement performance optimization strategies addressing the five domains of readiness: physical, mental, nutritional, sleep, and spiritual.

  • Educate and support unit/organizational leaders with evidence-based strategies to reduce injuries, improve recovery, and enhance overall readiness and resilience.

  • Use standardized data, tools, and outcome measures to track progress, identify trends, and refine performance and injury-prevention programs.

  • Contribute to improvements in fitness test pass rates, physical performance, and resilience metrics through targeted programming and individualized interventions.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, comply with scope-of-practice and licensing regulations, and participate in quality and performance-improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field from a CAATE-accredited program.

  • Passing score on the BOC exam for Athletic Trainers and active National Provider Identifier (NPI).

  • Unrestricted state license/registration/certification as an Athletic Trainer in a U.S. jurisdiction (must obtain in-state license as part of onboarding).

  • At least 2 years of relevant Athletic Training experience within the last 3 years.

  • Experience working with highly active populations (e.g., military, high school, collegiate, professional sports, performing arts, or occupational health).

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to successfully pass background check, drug screen, and medical/credentialing requirements (current physical and immunizations).

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong clinical skills in evaluation, prevention, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries.

  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team and communicate clearly with both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.

  • Comfort working in dynamic, fast-paced, and field-based environments with shifting priorities.

  • Data-informed decision-making and familiarity with basic outcome tracking and documentation systems.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and motivation to work with military/active adult populations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 45 pounds.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Hands-on engagement with participants during training, testing, and recovery activities.
