This position is a unique partnership between the Moore County Hospital District and Dumas Independent School District. The Athletic Trainer will be employed by the Hospital District and will receive MCHD benefits. This position will be based within the school district, where the Athletic Trainer will provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and game/event coverage for student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer will work closely with school administrators, coaches, and student-athletes and will report to the school district for day-to-day responsibilities and scheduling. This collaborative partnership combines the resources of both organizations to promote the health, safety, and well-being of our students.

Plan, coordinate, and supervise all components of the athletic training program for student athletes. Work under the direction of the team physician to provide athletic training in the form of health care that includes principles and methods for managing and treating athletic injuries for student athletes in good general health.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree
Valid license from Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
Current adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and injury prevention
Ability to provide emergency care and rehabilitation for student athletic injuries
Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes and assistants
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
