    Position Type: Part-Time (19 Hours/Week), Exempt
    Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Athletic Director

    POSITION PURPOSE
    Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Physical Education (K-12), the Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing athletic training and sports medicine services to UNIS student-athletes. This role is critical to supporting the health, safety, and wellbeing of students participating in the school's athletic programs. The Athletic Trainer will assess and manage student-athlete injuries, provide injury prevention and rehabilitation support, coordinate appropriate medical referrals, and work collaboratively with coaches and school personnel to promote safe participation in athletics.

    The specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    The individual will support the daily athletic activities of the school and work collaboratively with the Director of Athletics and Physical Education, coaches, students, and other school personnel to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes by:
    • Assessing, documenting, treating, and referring student-athlete injuries and illnesses as appropriate.
    • Providing athletic training coverage for designated practices, competitions, and interscholastic games.
    • Developing and implementing injury prevention, pre-habilitation, and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
    • Monitoring student-athletes' recovery and readiness to safely return to participation following an injury or illness.
    • Establishing and maintaining appropriate procedures for the evaluation and management of athletic injuries.
    • Working collaboratively with coaches and school personnel to develop and implement best-practice emergency action plans for athletic activities.
    • Responding appropriately to athletic emergencies and providing first aid and emergency care when required.
    • Maintaining accurate and confidential records relating to student-athlete injuries, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play status.
    • Communicating with parents/guardians, coaches, school personnel, and healthcare providers regarding student-athlete injuries and treatment, as appropriate.
    • Facilitating and monitoring health and safety training for PE and Athletic coaching staff.
    • Advising coaches and student-athletes on injury prevention, conditioning, hydration, nutrition, and safe participation in athletics, within the scope of professional practice.
    • Maintaining and regularly checking first aid equipment, athletic training supplies, and medical supplies for the department.
    • Ensuring that appropriate first aid and medical supplies are available at athletic practices, competitions, and designated events.
    • Supporting the development and implementation of health and safety protocols for athletic activities.
    • Promoting high standards of sportsmanship, ethics, personal responsibility, and safe participation in athletics.
    • Maintaining professional knowledge of current athletic training, sports medicine, injury prevention, and rehabilitation practices.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Current certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification (BOC), or equivalent recognized professional certification.
    • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
    • Experience providing athletic training coverage for practices and interscholastic competitions.
    • Strong knowledge of injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, injury prevention, and emergency care.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Ability to establish effective working relationships with students, parents/guardians, coaches, faculty, administrators, and healthcare professionals.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced athletic environment.
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining student medical and injury records.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when dealing with student health information.
    • Knowledge of related technologies and excellent computing skills required.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, based on the athletic schedule.

    WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
    • Part-time position, approximately 19 hours per week.
    • The schedule will be based on the school's athletic practice and competition schedule and may include evenings and occasional weekends.
    • Annual Salary: $40,000
