TITLE: Athletic Trainer (Certified) (ATC)LOCATION: Portland, OREMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time SalaryTRAVEL: 10%This position is contingent upon contract award.POSITION SUMMARYMGS is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) to join an elite Human Performance Program (HPP) supporting the 125th Special Tactics Squadron (STS) in Portland, OR. In this role, you will work directly alongside Special Operations Forces operators, providing injury prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement within a dynamic military human performance setting, making a meaningful impact on those who serve our nation's mission. RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):Provide HP services within the ATC's scope of practice as defined by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), including injury prevention, acute care, rehabilitative care, and performance enhancement.Utilize screening information to develop rehabilitation protocols and interventions; assist in building the unit's rehabilitation system in accordance with local, state, and national laws, licensing, and insurance certification.Perform patient tests, measurements, and evaluations; record findings to develop or revise treatment and training programs.Design and fabricate protective pads, equipment, and braces to help prevent and treat injuries, including taping techniques within the ATC's scope of practice.Maintain all equipment required for rehabilitation and pre-habilitation, including sauna, cryotherapy tanks, cold tubs, Graston/scraping tools, and cupping equipment.Participate in HPP staff meetings to review care provided and identify opportunities for improvement.Document all care and work in the Military's Electronic Health Record (AHLTA, GENESIS, etc.) as directed by unit leadership; collect and report data as requested by unit leadership and AFSPECWAR staff.Attend required training and maintain continuing education requirements; squadrons will allow attendance at necessary conferences or courses with advance coordination.Maintain physical proficiency to train alongside SOF, including hiking rough terrain, operating in austere environments, and lifting and manipulating loads up to 20 kilograms. REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSMust possess and maintain current certification by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Maintenance of this certification is an enduring requirement.Must possess current CPR certification including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from an accredited college or university (master's degree preferred).5+ years of post-professional experience as an ATC with individual athletes and groups at the NCAA Division I, Olympic, professional, or Special Operations/AFSPECWAR level.Additional credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA or as a certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting. PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in Athletic Training or a related discipline.Experience performing manual therapy, trigger point dry needling, Graston Technique soft tissue mobilization, and functional taping.Credentials to utilize Bionex medical machines for lumbar, cervical, and torso stabilization. *Applicants selected will be United States citizens and may be subject to a government security investigation for access to classified information.* ABOUT USAt MGS, we believe a people-first culture corresponds to organizational success through a commitment to excellence, integrity, inclusion, and an attitude that welcomes challenges meets demands, sustains growth, and drives innovation.
