Position SummaryThis position will assist the head coach in all aspects of coaching, practice, game planning, recruiting, scouting, film breakdown, and administering the men's lacrosse program. The primary responsibility of this role will be to serve as the Defensive Coordinator. Assist with the cultivation of a recruiting plan to support the University's Strategic Plan as directed by the head coach.Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Work closely with the Head Coach on the implementation of the defensive system and working with the face-off or goalie position. This includes but is not limited to evaluating the current team, implementing systems, coaching, scouting, video breakdowns, and game planning.Responsible for coordinating all team travel, including meals, lodging, and transportation. This position will work closely with the Head Coach on transportation needs for all away games.Work with the Student-Athlete Success Center staff to ensure student-athletes are adhering to all academic policies set forth and are meeting expectations toward degree completion.Work with the Head Coach on the recruitment and selection of prospective student-athletes in accordance with clearly documented roster goals and in compliance with the standards and principles of the operating codes of the NCAA and Sacred Heart University.Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures of Athletics as well as the compliance rules and regulations of the NCAA and Metro Conference, including the successful annual completion and passing of the NCAA recruiting test.Work toward establishing goals and objectives for a successful team consistent with the mission of the Department and the University.Follow the administrative procedures established by the University as published in the Athletics Policies and Procedures Manual.Enforce team travel standards for behavior and appropriate dress.Promote the educational values of intercollegiate athletics consistent with the educational values of the University as outlined in the University and Department of Athletics Mission Statements.Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Attributes
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree preferredPrevious coaching and playing experience, preferably at the Division 1 levelPrevious recruiting experience required
Unusual Working Conditions
40 hours per week, with a non-traditional work scheduleNights and weekends are requiredHeavy travel is required during the season
