Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Eastern Oregon University invites applications for the position of Athletics Equipment Coordinator. This full-time, 12-month position is responsible for coordinating the operation, maintenance, inventory, purchasing, and distribution of athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies in support of the University's 15 intercollegiate athletic programs and recreational activities.

The Athletics Equipment Coordinator prepares athletic facilities for practices, competitions, and special events, ensuring facilities and equipment meet NAIA regulations and safety standards. The position supervises student employees, coordinates laundry operations, assists with departmental purchasing and inventory management, and collaborates with coaches, facilities personnel, and game management staff to support a high-quality student-athlete experience.

Responsibilities

Equipment & Inventory Management

  • Order, receive, issue, maintain, repair, and replace athletic equipment, uniforms, apparel, and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of departmental equipment, uniforms, clothing, and supplies.
  • Recommend replacement of equipment, clothing, and uniforms.
  • Request comparative bids from vendors and assist with purchasing functions.
  • Operate and maintain laundry facilities and coordinate daily laundry needs for athletic programs.
  • Coordinate annual helmet reconditioning and inspect equipment to ensure condition and safety.

Facility & Event Operations

  • Prepare athletic facilities for practices, competitions, and special events.
  • Coordinate setup and takedown of athletic equipment, scoreboards, game clocks, bleachers, PA systems, protective padding, nets, and other event equipment.
  • Ensure athletic fields and courts meet applicable NAIA/NCAA playing regulations.
  • Conduct inspections of athletic facilities and coordinate repairs or recommend improvements.
  • Perform light repair and maintenance of athletic facilities.
  • Serve as liaison with Plant Services regarding athletic facility needs.
  • Maintain security, cleanliness, and organization of athletic equipment and facility areas.
  • Secure assigned game management personnel as assigned.

Student Employee Supervision

  • Hire, train, supervise, and assign work to student employees supporting equipment and facility operations.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Oversee assigned budget.
  • Attend departmental meetings and professional development activities.
  • Complete required paperwork related to assigned duties.
  • Assist with facility setup and teardown for departmental and Mountaineer Athletic Association events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in keeping stores and stores records; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record.
  • CPR and First Aid endorsements.
  • Individual must have knowledge of small equipment operations, industrial washer and dryer operations, scoreboard operations, light hand tools and athletic related guidelines for facility management
  • Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
