Role: Attendance Clerk

Reports to: Principal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Contract Days: As Assigned

Retirement: TRS

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of clerical duties to support supervisory and administrative personnel in handling daily activities.
  • Compose routine correspondence; type correspondence, reports, etc. as necessary.
  • Distribute mail and other correspondence to appropriate personnel.
  • Answer telephones, screen callers, and refer to appropriate person; greet visitors, ascertain the nature of business, and direct to appropriate person.
  • Answer questions of a routine nature.
  • Assist in maintaining efficient office operations by providing clerical relief whenever and wherever needed.
  • Exhibit a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with parents, students, fellow employees, school administration, and the general public.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance befitting the job provided by the school system
  • Interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents and administrators, using tact, good judgment and professionalism.
  • Operate telephone systems and any other standard office equipment such as typewriter, calculator, computer, copier, scanner, etc., as well as equipment developed or advanced from future technology as required by the job.
  • Create and maintain records, files, reports, or schedules as may be required by area of assignment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with any sensitive material or information.
  • Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance and the ability to adapt to an extended/flexible work schedule.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
  • Review current development, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and administrative directives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Hold or be eligible for required certification.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation.
  • Abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
