HPU Health- Oral Health Network is a non-for-profit dental network that provides primary and surgical/specialty care, part of the High Point University Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM).
We are seeking part-time and full-time (12-month, non-tenure track) faculty appointments with duties in the High Point University Oral Health Network (OHN) and Workman School of Dental (WSDM), which includes the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and post-doctoral programs. The faculty member in Orthodontics is responsible for providing patient care in OHN and educating pre-doctoral dental students and post-doctoral residents in WSDM. The position will report to the Chief Dental Officer.
Professional rank will be commensurate with the candidate's level of experience and qualifications at time of hire.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent), eligibility for dental licensure in the state of North Carolina
- Completion of a CODA-accredited or equivalent foreign program in orthodontics
Experience and Training
- Preferably board-eligible from the American Board of Endodontics
- 5 years of experience in clinical practice of dentistry is preferred, but not required.
- Experience in dental education is preferred, but not required.

- Clinical documentation, diagnosis, and treatment planning using electronic health records (EHR) such as EPIC systems.
- Travel to OHN (oral health network) sites located within 1 hour of High Point, NC

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Chief Dental Officer. The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Patient care
- Provide comprehensive and emergency orthodontics and craniofacial orthopedic diagnosis and treatment patients seen in the HPU Oral Health Network OHN)
- Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, ethical-fitness, and patient-centered approach
- Application of evidence-based practices to optimize patient outcomes
- Documentation of patient history, examination findings, diagnosis, treatment planning utilizing electronic health record (EPIC)
- Comfort with digital technologies such as intraoral scanning, photography, 3d printing, CAD-CAM, and CBCT imaging.
- Be able to cover for other OHN providers, as needed.
Education
- Serve as an attending clinical faculty for DMD and/or post-doctoral residents including modeling of optimal patient care, coaching in instructional and experiential environments, and assessment of learner performance
- Support curriculum content design and delivery in classroom-based and simulation-based learning environments.
- Provide continuing education courses in HPU WSDM as a content matter expert.
- Serve as a clinician role model for learners and be able to thrive in a start-up education model.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Chief Dental Officer, with input from the Executive Leadership Team
- Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews is conducted along with an annual assessment by the CDO and includes input from the faculty and students.
