Attorney – City of AuroraBase pay range: $85,790.00/yr - $107,237.00/yrSign‑on bonus: New employees are eligible for a $5,000 bonus, with $2,500 paid on the first payroll and $2,500 after successful completion of a 6‑month introductory period.ResponsibilitiesProsecute City ordinance violations, including negotiations, motions, trial practice, and appeals.Conduct legal research and draft legal documents for cases in the Aurora Municipal Court, through the Criminal Division of the City Attorney's Office.Enter into plea negotiations with defendants or their attorneys during pre‑trial conferences.Interview victims and witnesses, prepare pleadings, conduct discovery, and draft appellate briefs.Provide direct legal service on matters concerning the City Charter, ordinances, regulations, and local court rules.Perform various legal projects for the City Attorney's Office and Municipal Court.QualificationsGraduated from an accredited law school.Member, in good standing, of the Colorado Bar Association or has recently taken the Colorado Bar Exam, pending results.Experience with negotiations, trials, and appeals involving municipal ordinance violations.Knowledge of Colorado Revised Statutes, Aurora Municipal Code, local court rules, and Colorado Municipal Court Rules of Procedure.Strong legal research, writing, and courtroom skills.Ability to establish professional relationships with City employees, officials, and the public.High energy, positive “can‑do” attitude, accountability, and teamwork.Working ConditionsPrimarily sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 10 pounds.Work environment in a clean, comfortable office or courtroom.BenefitsMedical insurancePension planVision insurance401(k)Paid maternity leaveDisability insurance#J-18808-Ljbffr
