Job Description

Job Description

Attorney — Chicago Loop | No Workers' Comp Experience Required | $100K+

\n

\n

No workers' compensation experience required. Starting salary around $100,000, with no cap on the upside.

\n

\n

An established Chicago plaintiff firm, approaching 30 years, is hiring multiple workers' compensation attorneys and training them in the practice.

\n

\n

The firm has built this practice by hiring lawyers with the right mindset and training them. Candidates coming from another practice area, from a public defender's or state's attorney's office, or recently admitted are all welcome. What can't be taught is work ethic, resilience, and the willingness to fight for someone who needs it.

\n

\n

Why workers' comp

\n

Most attorneys don't think of comp as a career. They should. You're helping people get their medical bills paid, their treatment approved, and their families supported while they can't work. The impact is immediate and personal.

\n

\n

Practice it your way. Some attorneys take a high volume of cases to trial. Some focus on appeals. Some move matters efficiently to help as many clients as possible. There's room for all of it.

\n

\n

The role

\n

Manage your own caseload with real ownership. Litigate with a client-first mindset. Provide a quality client experience with consistent verbal and written updates. Collaborate on case strategy, particularly on high-value and high-expert-cost matters. Work with state-of-the-art legal software and AI tools, with training provided. Collaborate with and develop support staff.

\n

This is a high-volume plaintiff practice. It moves fast and the work is demanding, but you'll have dedicated support staff assigned to your caseload and the technology to handle it.

\n

\n

What they're looking for

\n

Licensed in Illinois with a clean record, or awaiting bar results. Genuine willingness to learn a new practice area from the ground up, with the compensation to match while you do it. Hard-working and resilient, with a track record of sticking with things. Strong communicator who can have difficult conversations with tact.

\n

Lawyering ability is prioritized over business generation. For newer attorneys, work experience outside the law counts as evidence of work ethic and responsibility.

\n

\n

What they provide

\n

One work-from-home day per week after a proven onboarding period. 100% medical, dental, and vision premium coverage for the employee. 401(k). 22 paid days off annually. A clearly defined compensation structure with no upper cap. Dedicated support staff. Access to legal community events and board opportunities.

\n

\n

Compensation

\n

Beginning attorneys typically start around $100,000. Attorneys transitioning from another practice area generally start between $100,000 and $120,000 while training in comp. Seasoned workers' compensation attorneys range from $100,000 to $200,000 base with performance-based upside and no cap.

\n

\n

Not yet admitted? Strong candidates may be considered as law clerks pending bar results.

\n

\n

Location: Chicago Loop, in-office. Attorneys new to workers' comp work in-office daily during training. Some flexibility may be available for candidates with direct workers' comp experience.
