Jendryk, Hamer & Begley, LLC (“JHB”) is seeking a driven, Illinois-licensed attorney to join our fast-paced and expanding insurance defense litigation practice based in Wheaton, Illinois. We’re looking for someone who thrives on challenge, wants to be in the courtroom, and is ready to roll up their sleeves and work side-by-side with seasoned litigators on major cases that matter.

This is not your average attorney role. At JHB, we handle high-stakes, high-value disputes in insurance defense litigation. Rather than being stuck conducting legal research and draft memos, you will be attending hearings, drafting pleadings and discovery, taking depositions, and trying cases! We’ll give you the support you need—and the responsibility you crave.

Responsibilities

Attorneys will be expected to perform the following tasks:

• Draft pleadings, motions, orders, discovery and legal memoranda.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery, conduct legal research, and take and defend depositions.
• Review client documents, draft case evaluations and prepare status report correspondence.
• Assist with and participate in mediations, pretrial settlement conferences and court appearances.
• Interact directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues and staff; and manage a substantive case load.
• Perform a variety of difficult and complex legal work and operate with substantial discretion and minimal direction or supervision.

Job Type: Full-Time in office with consideration given to hybrid and remote based on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year

Requirements

Candidates must:

• Must be licensed to practice law in Illinois (both state and federal).
• Proficient with MS Office and hourly billing platforms.
• Demonstrate strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Proactively work both independently and as part of a team.
• Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skill and navigate hearings in state and federal court with poise and professionalism.
