Job Description and DutiesThe Franchise Tax Board (FTB) Litigation Bureau is seeking an experienced personnel attorney to join our team. As a litigation attorney with the FTB focused on employment law, the incumbent will provide advice and guidance on various employment law issues such as employee discipline, the Family Medical Leave Act, Equal Employment Opportunity complaints, worksite security, legal compliance with state employment policies as well as other various state and federal laws; represent the department in front of administrative tribunals such as the State Personnel Board and the California Department of Human Resources as well as assist the Attorney General's office on civil litigation matters; develop procedures and policies to ensure department remains compliant with all its legal requirements, including the requirements related to Conflict of Interest, state contracting rules, privacy and disclosure, as well as other matters falling within the litigation bureau's subject matters.Active membership in the State Bar of California is required.QualificationsDesirable Qualifications:Experience in the practice of employment law including knowledge of state civil service requirementsKnowledge of the State Personnel Board procedures and experience presenting cases in front of administrative tribunalsStrong legal research, analysis and writing skillsStrong oral and written communication and advocacy skills, including ability to adjust communication styles to address/target different audienceAbility to organize and manage a high volume of work and perform in potentially stressful situationsAbility to establish and maintain relationships with management and staff of a large organizationAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyAbility to maintain strict confidentiality and act with discretion and tact in the performance of work responsibilitiesContact InformationHuman Resources Contact: (916) 845-3608Hiring Unit Contact: Carissa Lynch, (916) 845-7835, carissa.lynch@ftb.ca.govEEO Contact: EEO Office, (916) 845-2860California Relay Service: 1-800-735-2929 (TTY), 1-800-735-2922 (Voice)Final Filing Date: 6/25/2026#J-18808-Ljbffr
