Insurance Defense Attorney – North Jersey, NJ

Position Overview

• An established insurance defense practice is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney for its North Jersey team. The position is designed for an attorney with 4–8 years of insurance defense litigation experience and an active New Jersey bar admission. Automobile litigation experience is strongly preferred.
• The attorney will independently manage insurance defense matters from initial evaluation through settlement or trial and handle substantive litigation responsibilities throughout the life of each case.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage an insurance defense caseload from initial evaluation through resolution.
• Handle pleadings, discovery, depositions, substantive motion practice, and court appearances.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies.
• Represent clients in automobile liability and other insurance defense matters.
• Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
• Communicate regularly with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel.
• Monitor court deadlines and applicable procedural requirements.
• Manage multiple matters and competing deadlines.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active New Jersey bar admission.
• 4–8 years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Automobile litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Experience independently managing a litigation caseload.
• Deposition, discovery, and substantive motion practice experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience working with insurance carriers.
• Familiarity with insurance defense billing and litigation guidelines.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters.

Work Arrangement & Compensation

• The position is based in North Jersey, New Jersey, with a remote schedule, subject to experience and performance. The role includes a 1,950-hour annual billable requirement.
• Compensation is $120,000–$145,000

Salary Range: $120,000–$145,000
