Stange Law Firm, PC is seeking a motivated attorney for its planned expansion into Memphis, Tennessee. The opening date and final location of the Memphis office are currently being determined, and additional information will be provided during the interview process.

This is an opportunity to help establish the firm’s presence in a new market while receiving the resources, infrastructure, marketing, training, and administrative support of one of the nation’s largest family law firms.

At Stange Law Firm, attorneys do far more than research and paperwork. You will manage cases, work directly with clients, negotiate settlements, appear in court, conduct hearings and trials, and help families navigate some of the most important and difficult moments of their lives.

Family law experience is preferred but not required. We welcome experienced family law attorneys as well as litigators interested in developing a rewarding career in domestic relations law.

Our planned Memphis office is expected to serve clients throughout Shelby County and surrounding communities across Western Tennessee.

Stange Advocacy Institute

We believe attorneys should never stop developing their legal skills. Through the Stange Advocacy Institute, attorneys receive ongoing practical training designed to help them become stronger counselors, negotiators, writers, litigators, and courtroom advocates.

The firm conducts periodic Weekend Advocacy Intensives focused on skills that attorneys use in their daily practices, including:

• Preparation for hearings, depositions, and trials

These programs are designed to help newer attorneys develop their abilities more quickly while allowing experienced attorneys to sharpen advanced advocacy, case-management, and leadership skills.

Established Firm Support

Stange Law Firm provides strong marketing and consistent client demand. Attorneys are supported by experienced paralegals and legal assistants, along with established intake, accounting, billing, collections, human resources, information technology, marketing, and administrative teams.

This support allows attorneys to concentrate on practicing law, serving clients, managing cases, and developing their litigation skills. Attorneys joining the planned Memphis office will have the opportunity to help build a new local practice without having to create the operational systems of a law firm from the ground up.

Position Responsibilities

• Help establish and develop the firm’s presence in the Memphis market
• Manage family law matters from inception through resolution
• Advise clients and maintain regular, professional client communication
• Draft pleadings, motions, judgments, orders, discovery, and correspondence
• Conduct legal research and analysis
• Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, mediation, and trial
• Appear at conferences, mediations, hearings, and trials
• Negotiate settlements and advocate effectively for clients
• Communicate with opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other third parties
• Maintain organized and complete case files
• Produce accurate, thorough, and timely legal work
• Record billable time accurately and consistently under firm policies
• Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and support departments
• Participate in firm training and professional-development programs

Attorneys may handle matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, adoption, guardianship, estate planning, and other domestic relations issues.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Active Tennessee law license in good standing
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Effective courtroom, negotiation, and advocacy abilities
• Ability to manage cases, deadlines, and client expectations
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Commitment to responsive and professional client service
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a larger team
• Interest in helping develop the firm’s presence in a new market
• Commitment to continued learning and professional development

Family law experience is preferred but not required. Attorneys with experience in civil litigation, criminal law, prosecution, public defense, or other courtroom-focused practices are encouraged to apply.

Candidates seeking consideration for a Senior Associate position should generally have at least five years of relevant litigation experience.
