Based in Carlsbad with nearly two decades of dedicated service and a strong presence across seven California offices, we are a premier full-service law firm with 130+ attorneys devoted exclusively to representing public schools, community colleges, educational institutions, and other public entities. We serve 500+ education clients including school districts, SELPAs, county offices of education, private schools, government agencies, and municipalities. Our team includes attorneys who have served as educators, school board members, and in-house counsel — giving us a deep, firsthand understanding of the operational and legal challenges facing California's education system.

Job Details
  • Advise K-12 schools and community colleges on student services and special education matters
  • Assist clients with the individualized education program process
  • Present workshops and trainings to clients
  • Review and revise policies and procedures
  • Respond to state and federal compliance complaints
  • Handle administrative due process hearings outside the traditional adversarial litigation context
  • Build and maintain client relationships with public education institutions
  • Conduct legal research, writing, and analysis on education law issues

Looking For:

  • J.D. and active California bar license
  • Minimum 3 years focused on student services and special education law
  • Experience advising K-12 schools and/or community colleges
  • Strong background in special education compliance including IEP process, policy review, and administrative matters
  • Proven experience with compliance complaints, due process hearings, and education-related counseling
