    $25,000 SIGN ON BONUS

     

    Opportunity available for a full-time audiologist to join a team of otolaryngologists utilizing state of the art technology with compassionate patient care to provide high quality care to patients with a mix of diagnostics, hearing aid evaluations/solutions and vestibular dysfunction.

    JOB DUTIES

    Eagerness and determination to provide excellent patient care, including counseling skills regarding rehabilitation with hearing loss.

    Counsels' patients regarding their adjustment to sensory deficits and management of their limited auditory capabilities.

    Documents patients reported communication needs and concerns.

    Provides patient and/or significant other with available resources (literature and support groups) and availability of various assistive listening devices.

    Proficiency in audiology and equipment and hearing aids.

    Prescribes, evaluates, and dispenses hearing aid(s) and assistive listening devices.  Completes associated paperwork.

    Plans, implements, and documents hearing aid orientation with patient and/or significant other.

    Assures the amplification rehabilitation program meets both federal and state relations.

    Adheres to ASHA and Pennsylvania licensing requirements and dispensing licenses.

    Advises patients to seek medical clearance before using amplification.

    Instructs patients and significant other on proper use and care of hearing aid.

    Follow-up appointments scheduled to discuss status of hearing aid performance.

    Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including otolaryngologists, physician assistant(s), physical therapists, referring physicians/primary care providers, to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes for patients.

    Serves as a liaison between patients and physicians.

    Documents on patient records and reports to physicians the results of audiological testing after performing comprehensive hearing evaluations independently.

    Administers testing based on patient needs and referral.

    Revises testing protocol as needed.

    Serves as resource for the infant hearing screening program at MMC.

    Evaluates vestibular function in patients referred by a physician or agency.

    Ensures patients receive prep instructions.

    Administers, interprets, and reports test findings to referring physician or agency.

    Conducts electrophysiological testing. Tests include: ABR - (tone & click evoked), ABR - Follow up to universal newborn hearing screening.

    Evaluates, interprets, and reports test results to physicians for patients receiving auditory processing testing.

    Monitors development and updates of documentation standards to ensure compliance.

    Completes annual review of departmental policies and procedures.

    Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

    Participates in monthly review of statistics-assists with explanations of variances with manager.

    Participates in departmental quality assurance reviews and analysis to enhance patient care services, departmental and organizational initiatives.

    Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with purchase of supplies.

    Participates in the budget process and shares identified departmental needs (capital, expense, staff) with manager.

    Understands the charge master-maintains accuracy and reviews annually with manager.

    Participation in community based education programs as requested.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Professional knowledge of Audiology theory and practice at a level acquired through completion of a Master’s Degree or Audiology Doctorate Degree from an ASHA accredited program.

    Current PA Audiology license.

    A minimum of 1 year of audiology experience preferred.

    Computer skills necessary including word processing and the use of the Internet.

    Experience in spreadsheets and databases is desired.

    Must be able to communicate and exchange information effectively. Receive and exchange treatment information with physicians, and provide education when necessary. Provide explanations to patients, families and/or significant others and visitors for treatment plan, procedure and purpose of the audiology/speech intervention. Provide a means to facilitate effective treatment to patients. Communicate in a positive environment to all members of the audiology/ENT and Meadville Medical Center staff. Provide instruction to students, volunteers, observers.

    Analytical skills and organizational skills to develop and implement a plan for audiology care appropriate to the unique needs of the patient.

    Problem solving in a timely, efficient manner concerning patient’s mental and physical well-being to enhance a patient’s functional independence.

    Ability to concentrate, prioritize, plan, react calmly and perform as a professional therapist to resolve patient care problems, interact with patients, families and other team members, in occasional stressful situations.

    Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.
