Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Audit Associate:
#1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting completed prior to employment start date
#2. CPA certification in progress, actively pursuing CPA, or clear intention to pursue CPA designation
#3. Up to 3 years of public accounting experience and/or relevant public accounting internship experience
#4. Exposure to nonprofit organizations, nonprofit accounting, nonprofit audits, or Form 990-related work
#5. Working knowledge of GAAP, audit procedures, and financial reporting principles with strong communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities of the Audit Associate:
- Assist with audits, reviews, and compilations under supervision of Audit Seniors and Managers
- Participate in nonprofit and not-for-profit audit engagements
- Prepare and organize audit work papers and supporting documentation
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures
- Support audit planning, budgets, and engagement administration activities
- Support preparation of Form 990 information returns for nonprofit organizations
- Research accounting and audit concepts and communicate findings appropriately
- Build and maintain strong client and internal relationships
- Communicate engagement status and issues effectively
- Participate in training and ongoing professional development
Requirements of the Audit Associate:
- CPA certification or active CPA candidate status strongly preferred
- Public accounting internship experience
- Experience supporting nonprofit organizations or nonprofit audit engagements
- Experience with Form 990 preparation
- Exposure to nonprofit reporting requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical and research capabilities
