Senior Accountant – Audit & Reconciliation Project

Location: Preston, CT

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

Duration: Temporary project through December, with potential to extend

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support a critical audit and reconciliation project. This individual will work closely with the Finance Manager to clean up historical bank reconciliations, correct Sage 100 issues, and prepare the financial information and reporting needed to move the organization through its outstanding audits.

Pay: $60-70/hour

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed bank reconciliations in Sage 100, working through historical activity beginning in July 2024

• Research and correct reconciliation discrepancies, bank code issues, and account balance errors

• Review journal entries and determine their impact on bank reconciliations and registers

• Make necessary adjustments to ensure bank balances and accounting records are accurate

• Prepare GL detail, reconciliation reports, and supporting documentation requested by external auditors

• Work through accounts and monthly activity systematically, addressing auditor questions and requested corrections

• Assist with closing out FY25 and preparing the organization to move forward with subsequent fiscal years and audits

• Partner closely with the Finance Manager while independently managing the reconciliation and audit cleanup project

Qualifications:

• Strong Sage 100 experience required

• Advanced bank reconciliation experience required

• Experience preparing reports and supporting documentation for external audits

• Strong general ledger and journal entry knowledge

• Ability to research historical discrepancies and independently determine necessary corrections

• Comfortable working through complex accounting cleanup projects with significant transaction history

• Basic Excel proficiency

• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently while collaborating with a small finance team
