Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Audit Senior:
#1. Minimum 3+ years of audit experience within a public accounting environment
#2. Direct nonprofit audit experience required
#3. Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting and financial reporting requirements
#4. Experience with GAAP, audit procedures, internal controls, and financial statement preparation
#5. Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and competing priorities simultaneously
#6. Bachelors Degree in Accouting or FInance
#7. CPA certification or very close to a CPA
Responsibilities of the Audit Senior:
- Manage and execute multiple audit engagements simultaneously
- Build strong relationships with clients and serve as a trusted advisor
- Develop engagement timelines, budgets, and project plans
- Research and resolve technical audit and accounting issues
- Review and prepare financial statements and related disclosures
- Support engagement administration and audit procedures
- Assist with business development efforts and client growth initiatives
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior audit staff
- Maintain high-quality standards and ensure engagement completion within deadlines
Requirements of the Audit Senior:
- CPA certification or active CPA track preferred
- Experience with Form 990 preparation and review
- Single audit experience preferred
- ERISA audit experience considered a plus
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
- Experience with QuickBooks and audit engagement software platforms
