Accounting firm specializing in audits for non‑profit organizations is seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Auditor/Accountant.Job DetailsJob Type: Full TimeLocation: Washington, D.C.Rate: Competitive salary $85,000 - $95,000 per year.ResponsibilitiesAbility to manage and prioritize multiple audit engagements and client deadlines simultaneously.Willingness to work extended hours during peak periods such as tax season and audit deadlines.Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, independence, and objectivity in all engagements.Audit & AssurancePlan, lead, and execute non‑profit financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations for not‑for‑profit organizations.Conduct audit testing on internal controls, cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital assets, and expense accounts.Perform single audits for nonprofit organizations, including major program determination, cost principles, and compliance testing.Conduct compliance audits in accordance with GAGAS and other applicable federal statutes.Prepare and review audit work papers to document work performed and support audit conclusions.Draft audit reports and communicate findings, deficiencies, and recommendations to clients and audit committees.Financial Accounting & ReportingPrepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP as applicable.Analyze trial balances, general ledgers, cash accounts, and journals; propose adjusting journal entries where appropriate.Assist in the preparation of audited financial statements, including drafting audit opinions.Client & Stakeholder CommunicationBuild and maintain positive relationships with clients.Serve as a point of contact for internal functional groups and external auditors.Provide coaching and mentoring to junior staff and interns during audit engagements.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in public accounting, auditing, or a related financial role.Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAGAS, and SAS auditing standards.Experience performing financial statement audits for nonprofit organizations.Proficiency in audit and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Thomson Reuters Engagement Manager).Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables).Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.Preferred QualificationsActive CPA license or actively working toward CPA certification.Experience leading audit teams and managing multiple audit engagements simultaneously.Familiarity with grant compliance auditing for nonprofit organizations.Technical Skills & ToolsAccounting & Audit Software: CCH Access, Thomson Reuters Engagement Manager, Sage, QuickBooks.Standards & Frameworks: GAAP, GAGA.#J-18808-Ljbffr
