    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater, Theater Education, or related field preferred).
    • Demonstrated experience in technical theater, including lighting, sound, carpentry, and stagecraft.
    • Experience working with students or in an educational setting.
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for performances and events required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit required.
    • Experience in Kâ12 schools preferred.
    • Familiarity with theatrical lighting consoles (e.g., ETC), soundboards, QLab, and scenic software (e.g., Vectorworks) preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of first aid and safety training (OSHA, CPR, etc.).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide technical support for school theatre productions, concerts, assemblies, community events, and commercial performances.
    • Prepare, set up, operate, and take down auditorium equipment, including lighting, sound systems, microphones, projectors, rigging, scenery, and stage effects.
    • Support the technical aspects of productions and events, including lighting, sound mixing, lighting control, stage rigging, scenery, and other production needs.
    • During live presentations, provide direction and technical support to student and volunteer crews operating lighting, sound, and stage rigging systems.
    • Collaborate with theatre directors, music and instructional staff, students, event organizers, and community groups to support production and set design needs within established safety guidelines.
    • Attend rehearsals and pre-production meetings to coordinate technical requirements and provide direction to student and volunteer technical crews.
    • Provide hands-on instruction and guidance to students, volunteers, and staff in the safe and proper operation of auditorium equipment and technical theatre practices.
    • Assist and provide technical direction to student technical crews with lighting, audio, stage management, set construction, and other production responsibilities.
    • Maintain, inspect, and inventory auditorium equipment, tools, supplies, and stage hardware; perform routine maintenance and basic repairs as appropriate, and identify maintenance, repair, and replacement needs.
    • Work with the building principal and appropriate District staff regarding the purchase, repair, or replacement of equipment and supplies.
    • Maintain auditorium and technical spaces in a clean, organized, and safe condition and coordinate facility-related needs with appropriate District staff.
    • Communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing with staff, students, event organizers, community users, and other stakeholders to support successful events and productions.
    • Follow and enforce established safety and security procedures and promptly communicate concerns to the building principal or appropriate District administrator, including during after-hours use of the auditorium.
    • Maintain regular and reliable work-site attendance and establish cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
