  • Position: Authorization Specialist
  • Location: Wichita, KS
  • Hours: Full Time
  • Schedule: Monday- Friday, Flexible day time hours, typically 8 am- 5 pm, Hybrid on site one (1) day/week (May require on site during training)

THE POSITION:

Our Wichita, KS branch is looking for a self-motivated and organized Authorization Specialist to coordinate the authorization process for services performed by assigned branches.

  • Submits and follows up on all authorizations for the assigned branches; Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Communicates with the branch staff to determine the number of hours to request

  • Collects and submits required documentation for authorizations

  • Frequently communicates with payer contacts and billing department to ensure authorizations are accurate

  • Corrects any claims issues due to authorizations

  • Facilitates problem-solving through a collaborative approach

  • Monitors and ensures that staff, clients, and families have resources for effective and efficient services

  • Practices and promotes patient/family advocacy and facilitates the maintenance of ethical practice

  • Completes and maintains documentation, files, and records as required

  • Practices and promotes positive relationships and communication with all co-workers, the branch and corporate offices

  • Reports and responds to complaints and incidents appropriately and per policy

  • Understands, acknowledges, and follows all Policies and Procedures relevant to position and scope of work

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance

  • Other duties as assigned

THE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in medical or related field preferred
  • Experience with provider portals (e.g., Commercial providers, Medicaid, etc), healthcare billing, and verifying eligibility requirements preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
