This position is for School Year 2026-2027.
Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the ABEL teacher, the behavior technician, through evidence-based behavior strategies, will provide intensive behavior interventions for students with moderate to severe Autism Spectrum Disorder. The behavior technician shall collect, organize, and graph data for analysis of behaviors. This position includes working independently; modeling techniques and strategies for support staff; and collaborating and communicating with certified and paraprofessional staff.
New Hire Hourly rate: Grade 9: $26.66-$29.91 DOE
Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
Work hours: 7 hours per day
Work year: 9 months
Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)
Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):
a. High school diploma, or equivalent, and have either completed or the ability to complete the ParaProfessional Assessment or comparable DEED required assessment within four (4) months of hire; or
b. Associate's degree or higher; or c. Completion of two years of higher education (at least 48 semester hours) or the equivalent.
Two (2) years of experience working with special needs students in an educational or clinical setting.
During probationary period successfully complete in-person or online training in Applied
behavior analysis techniques, Autism spectrum disorders, and Positive Behavior Interventions and
support as assigned by special education administration in coordination with ABEL teacher or two
(2) college level classes related to behavioral analysis.

Demonstrate the ability to perform the duties listed.
Knowledge of basic reading, math, and curricula areas appropriate for the age-level of students.
Must demonstrate basic knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis techniques and terminology.
Must possess the ability to communicate clearly and consistently with students and staff.
Must have the ability to safely restrain students who present a danger to self or others.
Must complete initial certification from Crisis Prevention Institute within the first 4 months
of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.
