Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Technician Emergency Vehicle Upfitter to join a growing team in Norman. This position is responsible for installing, programming, troubleshooting, and repairing specialized equipment on emergency response and commercial fleet vehicles.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and automotive electrical experience, excellent diagnostic skills, and takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous automotive technician, fleet maintenance, automotive electrical, or emergency vehicle upfitting experience preferred
Strong knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems and vehicle wiring
Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues
Ability to safely use hand and power tools
Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Valid driver's license preferred
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Install and program 12-volt electrical systems in emergency and fleet vehicles
Install custom equipment including light bars, sirens, radios, skid units, and other specialized accessories
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and wiring issues
Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, brake service, inspections, and fluid replacement
Troubleshoot vehicle accessories and electrical systems to ensure proper operation
Service and repair emergency vehicle equipment to manufacturer and safety standards
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation instructions
Complete accurate service documentation and communicate repair needs effectively
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Assist with overtime and occasional Saturday work as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with emergency vehicles, police, fire, EMS, or municipal fleets
Automotive electrical diagnostics and custom wiring experience
ASE certifications are a plus
Fleet maintenance or commercial vehicle experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work around vehicles throughout the shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Frequent use of hand and power tools
Ability to work in a fast-paced automotive shop environment
Work Environment
