Maintenance Technician (Advanced Automation & Equipment)

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to maintain and improve a range of manufacturing equipment, including manual, semi-automated, and fully automated systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting, reliability improvements, and preventive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.

Shift: 5:30 PM to 6:00 AM

Two week rotation: 1st week Thursday – Saturday = 36 hrs

                                   2nd week rotation Wednesday – Saturday = 48 hrs, 40 ST and 8 OT


Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and controls systems.
  • Diagnose machine control issues using PLCs and online ladder logic tools.
  • Execute corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Lead and support equipment performance improvement and process validation initiatives.
  • Identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Contribute to process optimization through equipment design improvements and procedural enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot complex equipment independently with a high level of accuracy and reliability.
  • Develop technical expertise in RF welding, including theory, processes, and equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of manufacturing technologies and equipment across all operational areas.
  • Mentor and train less experienced technicians and mechanics.
  • Respond to equipment issues with urgency to minimize downtime.
  • Follow all established safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support off-shift work and on-call coverage as needed.
  • Lead or participate in special projects.
  • Handle, label, and transfer hazardous waste in compliance with procedures.
  • Complete required biohazard training.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED.

Experience

  • 10+ years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently the first time.
  • High standards of workmanship aligned with regulated or medical manufacturing environments.
  • Advanced troubleshooting expertise in:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Pneumatics and hydraulics
    • Controls and automation
  • Proficiency with tools, instrumentation, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with both metric and imperial measurement systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex schematics, diagrams, and technical documents.
  • Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and their use in troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PC-based software tools and database systems.
  • Basic network troubleshooting capability.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.

Certifications & Training (Required Upon Hire/Within Timeline)

  • Automated Equipment Maintenance Mechanic certification.
  • RF Welding qualification.
  • Electrical Safety certification.
