Responsibilities:

Job Summary: As an Automated Systems Industrial Maintenance Partner, you'll maintain H-E-B facilities and systems in a professional manner to ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability. You'll support our mission to be a world class maintenance management organization using the latest in technology, processes, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Maintenance / Troubleshooting / Repair & Replacement / Training:
Buildings & Grounds:

  • Installs / repairs complex water supply lines using glued plastic, compression fittings, soldered copper tubing, or threaded pipe
  • Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces more complex facility equipment (turnstiles, security access gates, truck scales, etc.)
  • Performs skill-level appropriate preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on buildings and grounds equipment
  • Assists other technicians to troubleshoot / repair / replace building and grounds equipment or systems, facility dock doors, roof leaks, concrete damage, gates, etc.

Mechanical:

  • Uses appropriate tools, materials, and methods to perform mechanical tasks safely and efficiently
  • Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces HVAC package units and Chiller system major components
  • Troubleshoots Building Management System components (actuators, sensors, valves, other electrical components)
  • Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces compressor air ends, pumps, gear boxes, and all major components on facility support equipment
  • Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces major components on all facility production equipment (cranes, conveyors, diverters, AS / RS storage and retrieval machines, palletizers, automated stretch wrappers, etc.)
  • Performs PM tasks on major facility systems (stretch wrappers, palletizers, etc.)
  • Perform PM tasks on facility systems such as Chiller Plant Centrifugal Compressors, Condenser Water pumps, Chilled Water pumps, Cooling Tower and Chilled water air handler equipment, etc.
  • Performs skill-level appropriate PM tasks on facility mechanical equipment
  • Assists / trains lower-level techs to troubleshoot and repair dock levelers, restraints, etc.
  • Assists higher-level technicians to install / troubleshoot / repair any facility mechanical equipment or systems

Hydraulics & Pneumatics:

  • Performs pump down, pressure discharge, and isolation procedures to make systems safe prior to maintenance activities
  • Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces major facility equipment components (hydraulic power packs, air compressor systems, battery changers, cranes, elevators, compactors, etc.)
  • Performs PM tasks on compactor units, air compressors, hydraulic or pneumatic driven equipment, battery changing machines, and hydraulic power packs
  • Performs skill-level appropriate PM tasks on hydraulic and pneumatic power systems and facility operating equipment
  • Trains / assists lower-level technicians to troubleshoot / repair less complex equipment components
  • Assists higher-level technicians to troubleshoot / repair more complex hydraulic or pneumatic system failures

Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation:

  • Evaluates systems for proper operation and efficiency using manifold gauges, thermometers, manometers, etc.
  • Uses refrigerant recovery system and manifold gauges when evacuating and charging an HVAC or chiller system
  • Trains / assists lower-level technicians to repair HVAC equipment and Chiller System components
  • Assists higher-level technicians to troubleshoot / repair / install package HVAC or major chiller system components
  • Performs assigned PM tasks on HVAC equipment, Chillers, Chiller plant pumps / motors
  • Performs operational checks on Chiller Plant using HMI / BMS

Fire Suppression Systems:

  • Applies / demonstrates knowledge of pre-action systems and Radionics alarm panels, and associated system components
  • Replaces damaged sprinkler system components (audio / visual devices, pull stations, switching devices, pumps, etc.
  • Performs skill-level appropriate PM tasks on a dry fire suppression system
  • Assists in troubleshooting / repairing issues with fire suppression system, including pump controls, alarm panels, and tamper switches

Electrical / Electronic:

  • Installs new 120-volt and 277-volt circuits to power equipment (wall switches, appliances, light fixtures, small motors, breakers, disconnects, GFI protection, etc.)
  • Identifies / repairs moderately complex electrical problems with production equipment electrical systems (PLC and computer control systems, variable frequency drives, motor controls, etc.)
  • Applies understanding of complex control sequences to identify system failures / problems
  • Troubleshoots / repairs facility power distribution systems (distribution panels, motor control centers, equipment power panels, etc.)
  • Troubleshoots / repairs / assists higher-level technicians on main power systems (main breakers, power transformers, fuses, ground fault systems, phase failure systems, current transformers in 480-volt systems, etc.)
  • Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces lighting fixtures and power supplies
  • Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces components in power distribution panels, motor control centers, and equipment power panels
  • Troubleshoots PLC networks and associated systems and equipment (proximity switches, scales, photo eyes, power supplies, I/O card, etc.
  • Performs skill-level appropriate PM tasks / assists others doing PM tasks on electrical systems
  • Trains / assists lower-level technicians to perform electrical maintenance tasks

Welding:

  • Prepares equipment and materials for welding by cutting, grinding, or heating
  • Properly uses metal working tools (grinders, saws, drills, metal workers, etc.) to repair facility machinery
  • Brazes and cuts metal machinery using an oxygen / acetylene torch
  • Makes complex equipment / facility repairs using electric arc stick, MIG, TIG, plasma or oxygen / acetylene equipment
  • Assists higher-level technicians on more complex repairs or fabrication requiring metal working and welding
  • Trains / assists lower-level technicians on more complex repairs or fabrication that requires metal working and welding

Compliance:

  • Follows standard operating procedures (SOP) related to work order and parts requisitions completion
  • Completes accident and incident reports in compliance with policy

Qualifications & Key Requirements:

Work Experience:

  • 4+ years Experience in mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, construction trades, air conditioning maintenance, welding, hydraulic / pneumatic systems, construction trades, or AC maintenance - Required


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong organization and time-management skills - Required
  • Strong written / verbal communication and skills - Required
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks; attention to detail - Required
  • Initiative - Required

Education:

  • HS Diploma or GED - Required


Licenses/Certifications:

  • EPA Universal License preferred - Preferred


Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Work while standing, sitting, stooping, walking, bending, with hands over head, and in prone position
  • Climb; work from a ladder and other elevated work platforms (manlift, scissor lift, catwalk, silo)
  • Lift and carry 75 lbs; lift 20lbs or more on an occasional basis
  • Work in extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 130 degrees
