The Department of Enterprise Services (DES), Golf Courses Division is hiring an Automatic Sprinkler System Repairer at the Ala Wai Golf Course. This position performs technical work and has full responsibility for the repair and maintenance of the automatic sprinkler system at the golf course.

What You Will Do:

  • Repair and maintain automatic sprinkler controllers, valves, irrigation lines, sprinkler heads, and pump stations.
  • Perform inspections, cleaning, testing, and servicing of system components to ensure proper operation.
  • Program and monitor automated sprinkler systems and report irrigation and pump malfunctions.
  • Plan maintenance schedules, order parts, maintain repair records, and track water usage.
  • Operate City vehicles to transport equipment and materials and provide maintenance and supervisory support as needed.

Special Work Conditions:

  • These positions may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work schedule subject to change based on job requirements.
  • May be required to operate vehicle such as pick up truck to pick up supplies.
  • May be assigned to work at another golf course.
  • Will operate a golf cart.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:

Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of this position (i.e., repairing and maintaining electrical and hydraulic automatic ground sprinkler systems).

Applicable Skills Needed:

  • Knowledge of automatic sprinkler systems, including electrical components, tools, materials, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain automatic sprinkler systems efficiently.
  • Skilled in using trade tools and equipment with manual dexterity and safe work practices.
  • Ability to plan and organize work, and follow sketches, diagrams, and technical instructions.
  • Ability to keep accurate records, prepare reports, and follow oral and written directions.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

Valid drivers license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment.
