Summary of PositionThe Automation Control Technician is responsible for set-up, installation, troubleshooting, testing and repair of complex electrical and electronic equipment including automatic machines and process controls, motor control centers and related controls, computer control systems, some with human/machine interfaces, as well as basic plant electrical equipment; participates in preventative maintenance activities related to all plant and production electrical and electronic components and systems as well as maintaining the plant's calibration system to ISO standards.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReviews and accurately reports personal activities on a daily or more frequent basisAssists the Engineering Manager and/or Maintenance Manager in determining proper installation and/or repair procedures for electrical and/or electronic equipmentNotifies the Engineering Manager if additional hand, power or electronic diagnostic tools are requiredParticipates in establishing and maintaining an effective preventative maintenance programCompletes small electrical and/or electronic projects as assigned by the Engineering ManagerAdministers the plant's calibration system in compliance to ISO standardsProvides technical assistance to operations on proper operation of control systems on new/modified equipment installations.Assists the Engineering Manager in establishing and maintaining adequate inventories of critical componentsAssists the Engineering Department in planning existing equipment upgrades and new equipment specificationsAssists the Maintenance and Engineering Departments in archiving accurate equipment blueprints and operational documents.Assists the Maintenance and Engineering Departments in archiving accurate equipment operating, testing and development software.Assures safe work practices and company/plant policies are adhered toMaintains high standard of cleanliness and organization at job sites and automation labOther responsibilities as directed by the Maintenance ManagerQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
