Job Description

Title: Controls Engineer
Location: North Haven, CT
Pay Rate: $35-$45/hr on W2
JOB DESCRIPTION
The electrical/controls support of various manufacturing areas within the General Surgical Products Focus Factory of Medtronic.
This includes being the project lead in manufacturing process improvements, assembly equipment retrofit projects and new equipment procurement.
Will be responsible for providing all documentation required to support assembly equipment.
This includes but is not limited to operating instructions, electrical schematics, specifications, parameter settings, software backups, and requirements specifications.
Will write FAT, SAT, and execution of Installation Qualification (IQ) functional protocol challenges.
Provide technical support to maintenance as required. Address appropriately related manufacturing issues on a daily basis as needed
Troubleshoot machine stoppages and provide root cause analysis for manufacturing teams
Ability to read Electrical schematics
Create and provide equipment specifications to vendors for quoting automated and manual equipment.
Review and develop process improvements to increase Overall Equipment
Effectiveness (OEE) of manufacturing systems.
Review equipment quotes, design reviews, and work with project teams to provide custom assembly equipment.
Key participant in DFMEA, PFMEA, Machine Risk Assessments, and quality (CTQ) processes assuring specifications are well defined and documented.
Key participant in equipment specifications, supplier selection, and qualification activities.
Key participant in all Validation activities.
Communicate and coordinate activities with multiple functional groups both within and outside of operations.
10% travel to manufacturing sites and supplier visits required. (Domestic).
Experience with PLC & Vision platforms (GuardLogix, CompactLogix and ControlLogix Platforms) and HMI's
(FactoryTalk ME/SE) and Vision Inspection (Cognex, Keyence)
Ability to read Electrical schematics
Experience and experience in diagnosing servo and stepper motion control and controllers.
Proficient in electrical and controls design, with experience using NFPA standards, and experience in automated assembly equipment with the ability to troubleshoot equipment using conventional diagnostic tools
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Must Have
Automation Engineering
Basic knowledge of working with vision systems and servo motors.
Controls Engineering
PLC Programming
Understanding of Robotics and Vision Systems
Nice To Have
Allen-Bradley PLC
Automated Inspection
Cognex Vision equipment implementation
Rockwell Automation Software
Education Required:
BS Electrical/Controls/Electromechanical Engineering preferred.
Sutures, Laproclip, Abstack, Maxtack, Reinforced Reload.

Equipment:
Packaging Equipment: Form, Fill, and Seal
Packaging machines, Bar Sealing Vacuum Drying Systems,
Automated Robotic Packaging and Assembly Equipment, Automated Labeling Systems
Requires a University Degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
