Position SummaryThe Automation Controls Specialist will work as part of the engineering team designing, programming, modifying, testing, and supporting control systems for automated prescription dispensing equipment. The role serves as an automation and PLC programming resource, developing and implementing control system improvements that enhance quality, service, reliability, capacity, and operational performance. It works closely with operations, maintenance, vendors, and project teams to develop automation solutions, support equipment integrations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, program, test, and deploy PLC control system solutions for production equipment.Develop new PLC logic, modify existing machine control programs, and implement automation enhancements to improve equipment performance.Support integration of new equipment, sensors, vision systems, robotics, and data collection systems into existing control architectures.Perform controls optimization and code improvements to increase equipment reliability, throughput, and operational efficiency.Create and maintain documentation such as SOPs, manuals, test plans, and training guides.Train site personnel, technicians, operators, and leadership on new equipment and system enhancements.Provide support to additional sites as needed (some travel required).Required QualificationsDemonstrated experience programming, developing, and modifying PLC-controlled machine and automation systems.Proven ability to create PLC logic from design requirements and implement machine control solutions for new or existing equipment.Strong experience with PLC code development, programming standards, commissioning, testing, and startup support.Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, with programming and controls development experience being the primary qualification.Experience programming Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms required; Beckhoff PLC programming experience is a plus.Experience with HMI development, networking, device integration, and controls architecture.Ability to read, understand, and create control system documentation, electrical drawings, I/O lists, and functional specifications.Mechanical troubleshooting experience.Comfortable working in an on‑call support role within a 24/7 operation.Able to remain calm in stressful situations.Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time.Ability to identify and develop engineering solutions for equipment improvements.Experience preparing RFQ documents and reviewing vendor quotations.Ability to provide support and instruction for the automation team.Preferred QualificationsExperience developing machine control software from concept through implementation.Experience with controls aspects of capital projects, equipment installations, and automation upgrades.Familiarity with statistical tools or Six Sigma process improvement methods.Experience analyzing equipment availability, performance, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).Ability to review supplier drawings and recommend design improvements within operational constraints.Key SkillsPLC programming and software development.PLC logic design, architecture, and code optimization.Controls system design and implementation.Commissioning, validation, and startup support.PLC diagnostics, fault isolation, and troubleshooting.Continuous improvement and equipment optimization.Technical documentation.Cross‑functional collaboration.Training and knowledge sharing.Additional InformationAnticipated weekly hours: 40Time Type: Full timePay range: $46,988.00 - $102,000.00 (base salary; additional incentive programs available)Benefits OverviewThis full‑time position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package designed to support physical, emotional, and financial well‑being, including medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off, retirement savings options, wellness programs, and other resources.EEO StatementQualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with all federal, state and local laws.#J-18808-Ljbffr
