This role focuses on eliminating repetitive manual work and empowering employees to dedicate their time to high-value creative initiatives. Youll evaluate existing processes, recommend and integrate new tools, and build custom automation solutions that scale across the organization.This is an excellent opportunity for software engineers who are passionate about solving real business problems, love the idea of making peoples work lives better, and want to see immediate impact from their technical skills.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Analysis & Optimization: Collaborate with departments (Product, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Customer Success, and Talent Management-our team working directly with Cameos celebrities and creators) to map workflows, identify bottlenecks, and uncover automation opportunitiesTool Evaluation & Implementation: Research, evaluate, and deploy automation tools and platforms (e.g., Retool, Zapier, Make, workflow automation software, RPA tools) that align with business needsCustom Automation Development: Build scripts, integrations, and automation solutions using languages like Python, JavaScript/NodeJS, or similar to connect systems and streamline operationsCross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with engineering, data, and business teams to ensure automation solutions integrate seamlessly with existing tech stackDocumentation & Training: Create clear documentation and provide training to teams on new automated workflows and toolsContinuous Improvement: Monitor automation performance, gather feedback, and iterate on solutions to maximize efficiency gainsStrategic Roadmap: Develop and maintain an automation roadmap prioritizing high-impact initiatives aligned with company goalsKey RequirementsSoftware engineering experience: 2-4 years writing production code in languages like Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or similarProblem-solving mindset: Ability to understand business problems and translate them into technical solutionsAPI fluency: Experience working with APIs, integrations, and connecting different systems togetherCommunication skills: Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersSelf-directed: Comfortable with ambiguity, able to scope and prioritize work independentlyCuriosity & eagerness to learn: Interest in exploring new tools, technologies, and approaches to solve efficiency problemsAI-assisted development: 6+ months of hands-on experience using Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent AI coding assistants as part of a regular development workflowNice to HaveExperience building automation solutions, workflow tools, or internal toolingHands-on experience with automation platforms (Zapier, Make, Power Automate, Workato, or similar)Experience with RPA (Robotic Process Automation) toolsFamiliarity with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and data manipulationBackground in operations, consulting, or process improvementKnowledge of workflow automation in SaaS or marketplace businessesExperience in a startup or fast-paced environmentYou might be a great fit if youGet excited about finding creative solutions to eliminate tedious workLove talking to people to understand their pain pointsEnjoy seeing your work directly improve someones day-to-day experienceAre energized by variety-every department has different challengesWant to work on projects that ship quickly and show immediate valuePrefer building practical solutions over perfect codeAre excited about working closely with our Talent Management team to streamline how we support Cameos roster of celebrities and creatorsCameo is an equal opportunity employer. Cameo celebrates and embraces diversity.The salary range for this position is $145,000 to $175,000 with opportunities for additional compensation based on performance. Cameo determines salary ranges by role and level with ranges for US roles typically based on our home market of Chicago. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within that range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
