Title: Automation Engineer
Location: King of Prussia, PA
Role Summary:
- The Automation Engineer supports manufacturing, quality, and analytical systems in a GMP-regulated environment. The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving industrial automation and IT systems to ensure reliable and efficient operations, including support for cell and gene therapy manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support GxP-compliant manufacturing and laboratory automation systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, PLC, SCADA, and automation issues
- Maintain and improve automation systems for performance, stability, and compliance
- Support installation, commissioning, and integration of new equipment
- Investigate system anomalies and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Provide on-floor manufacturing support and ensure operational continuity
- Assist in system upgrades, expansion, and optimization initiatives
- Maintain technical documentation and support audit readiness
- Support training and end-user assistance for automation systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IT and process improvement projects
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, IT, Science, or related field
- Experience in automation support within GMP/pharma manufacturing
- Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, Batch systems (S88/S95), and industrial IT systems
- Basic understanding of networking and data historian systems
- Experience with GMP compliance and regulatory requirements
Preferred Skills:
- Exposure to cell & gene therapy manufacturing systems
- Experience with bioreactors, QC equipment, and automation platforms
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
