Position: Senior Automation Engineer – Medical Device Manufacturing
Location: Buffalo Grove, IL (Onsite)
Compensation: $135k to $155K base + 5% bonus

This role offers cross-site visibility and the opportunity to influence automation strategy in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead automation engineering initiatives across the Buffalo Grove and Libertyville manufacturing sites
  • Partner with OEMs on new equipment design, development, and production integration
  • Drive continuous improvement and redesign efforts for existing automated systems
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams
  • Design, specify, implement, and maintain automation equipment, tooling, and applications
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for mechanical automation solutions, ensuring compliance, reliability, and scalability
  • Travel occasionally to the Austin, TX headquarters as needed
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 8+ years of automation engineering experience in regulated manufacturing environments (medical device preferred)
  • Strong background in equipment design, implementation, and process optimization
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar CAD platforms
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage OEM relationships, and provide enterprise-level technical guidance
Preferred Experience:
  • Medical device or disposable manufacturing
  • Drug handling automation or high-speed automated systems
