Automation Engineer - WA - July 2025 - 1313

Our client located in the Seattle area is seeking an Automation Engineer to drive the design, integration, and optimization of smart systems supporting the production of high-performance thermal protection and sealing components. You'll play a key role in scaling next-generation products made from advanced materials contributing directly to innovation in aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement automation systems to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including engineering, production, and quality-to define automation requirements and ensure seamless integration with existing workflows.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and control systems.
  • Manage automation projects from concept through commissioning, including vendor coordination, testing, and validation.
  • Support the industrialization of new products by developing automation solutions compatible with advanced materials and custom manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor performance metrics, identify inefficiencies, and drive improvements through data analysis and process optimization.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on automation, lean manufacturing, and systems reliability.
  • Develop technical documentation and provide support and training to production and maintenance personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in a manufacturing environment involving high-performance or composite materials.
  • Strong proficiency with PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols
  • Hands-on knowledge of automation hardware, robotic systems, and sensor networks.
