If so, you’ll thrive here—reporting to the Manufacturing Manager with direct ownership of automation engineering in assigned operations.

What you’ll do

  • Lead projects from design through startup, verification, and sustained production support.
  • Support and commission new automated equipment and lines; plan and execute FAT/SAT and production qualification.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen‑Bradley/Siemens), HMIs/SCADA, VFDs, servo/motion systems, robots, and industrial communications.
  • Improve reliability, uptime, throughput, and process capability in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Author and maintain electrical drawings, control narratives, code documentation, SOPs, and change records.
  • Interface with machine builders, integrators, and international suppliers for install and ramp.
  • Champion continuous improvement focused on scrap reduction, cycle‑time gains, and labor optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Shape preventive/predictive maintenance strategies for automated assets.
  • Contribute to automation standards and the long‑range technology roadmap.
  • Train production and maintenance teams on operation and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with capital planning, equipment specifications, and vendor selection.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years in industrial automation within manufacturing, including startup/commissioning/integration.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen‑Bradley and/or Siemens); HMI/SCADA; robotics; servo/motion; industrial protocols.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and engineering drawings; strong electrical controls troubleshooting.
  • Project management, organization, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor; strong written and verbal communication.

Preferred

  • Background in battery manufacturing, chemical processing, medical devices, electronics, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with vision/inspection systems and data collection.
  • Familiarity with MES, ERP integration, and Industry 4.0 approaches.
  • Robotics exposure (FANUC, ABB, Universal Robots).
  • Knowledge of NFPA/OSHA; experience supporting multi‑shift operations.
  • Lean/continuous improvement experience.
  • Mandarin language skills are a plus.

Where you’ll work

  • High‑volume battery manufacturing environment with frequent interaction with machinery and automated systems.
  • Occasional off‑shift/weekend support during startups or critical production needs.
  • PPE required in designated production areas.

Physical demands

  • Periodic standing, walking, sitting, handling tools/equipment, reaching, stair climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and clear verbal communication.
  • Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 lbs.
