Our client, a leading provider of engineered equipment and solutions within the food processing industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Project Manager to oversee complex equipment projects from order intake through installation and closeout. This individual will serve as a key liaison between internal teams, vendors, and customers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with technical and commercial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review finalized sales quotes, project cost estimates, customer purchase orders, performance guarantees, and specifications; identify commercial and technical risks and partner with sales teams to resolve and negotiate as needed.
- Establish and maintain project records and sales orders within SAP.
- Lead project kick-off meetings and document key outcomes and action items.
- Develop and manage project schedules using SAP and Microsoft Project, ensuring milestones are met.
- Source and procure specialized equipment and control systems from external vendors, including negotiating pricing, terms, and conditions; issue and manage purchase requisitions and orders within SAP.
- Monitor vendor progress, including drawing approvals, manufacturing status, and pre-shipment testing, ensuring adherence to project timelines.
- Track equipment through engineering, manufacturing, testing, and shipment phases; conduct vendor and facility visits as required.
- Provide regular project updates in internal orders-in-progress (OIP) meetings and maintain accurate project status documentation in SAP.
- Support field service teams during installation and startup, providing technical and project guidance.
- Manage all project scope, specification, and schedule changes following handoff from the sales team.
- Analyze project costs, identify variances, and contribute insights for future project planning; lead project closeout reviews.
- Collaborate with customers and field service teams to develop and manage punch lists, coordinate site visits, and support warranty-related activities, including parts fulfillment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the food processing or related industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Microsoft Project, SAP, CRM systems, and AutoCAD Viewer.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment assembly, system layout, and electrical drawings.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10–20%.
