Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an
Automation QA Engineer for a
contract assignment with one of our premier SaaS clients in San Jose, CA. This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week onsite.
We are requesting a temporary contractor to cover a paternity leave absence from October 26, 2026, through January 7, 2027. The additional resource will help ensure uninterrupted project execution, maintain delivery commitments, and preserve overall team effectiveness during this period.
Responsibilities:- Partner with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, design, and research, to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
- Develop and implement scalable test automation solutions to improve test coverage, reliability, and efficiency.
- Design, execute, and maintain automated tests for functional, integration, performance, and end-to-end scenarios.
- Create automation test plans and test cases from product requirements, technical designs, and user workflows.
- Diagnose defects, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Validate product quality across diverse platforms, operating systems, and deployment environments.
- Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and quality gates.
- Monitor quality metrics and test outcomes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Drive innovation in test automation, tooling, and quality engineering best practices to increase team effectiveness and product quality.
Required Skills:- 2–4 years of experience in software test automation, quality engineering, or software development.
- Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, or similar languages.
- Experience developing and maintaining test automation frameworks, tools, and infrastructure.
- Proficiency using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate test development and debugging.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC), testing methodologies, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong debugging, root cause analysis, and defect-tracking skills.
- Familiarity with performance, scalability, reliability, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience testing desktop, web, and/or cloud-based applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent.
Preferred Skills:- Experience testing AI/ML-powered products or GenAI features.
- Familiarity with image-processing, creative applications, or automation-driven quality evaluation.
