Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | 11pm - 7: 30am, Monday - Friday

Join trak group in partnering with a growing client seeking an Automation Technician to support automated equipment and plant systems within an industrial manufacturing environment. This hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical systems, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, and related automation components.
The Automation Technician will perform equipment repairs, support preventive maintenance programs, document completed work, and identify opportunities to improve equipment uptime and productivity. This position is ideal for a strong troubleshooter who can work independently while collaborating with maintenance and operations teams.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated manufacturing equipment and systems.
Work with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation equipment.
Repair and install electrical and mechanical systems and components on industrial machinery.
Follow electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, manuals, codes, and equipment specifications.
Troubleshoot and repair bearings, machine components, pneumatic systems, and piping systems.
Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment to diagnose and complete repairs.
Complete maintenance work orders with accurate labor hours, parts usage, and detailed repair information.
Support and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs.
Identify opportunities to increase equipment uptime, reliability, and productivity.
Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow company safety procedures and regulations.
Work independently with minimal supervision while supporting team initiatives.
Provide support or training at other company locations as needed.
3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery.
Experience with PLCs and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Experience with pneumatic systems and mechanical equipment.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to accurately document maintenance and repair activities.
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility to adjust work schedule based on business needs.
Ability to travel to other locations as needed for training or technical support.
Technical degree in automation, electrical, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
CAD experience.
Experience improving preventive maintenance programs.
Broader experience with industrial automation and control systems.
