Position Overview:
The Automotive Calibration Coordinator stands at the intersection of technical excellence and system performance, ensuring that modern vehicles deliver the expected driving experience, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This pivotal role orchestrates the calibration of sophisticated automotive systems from powertrain to advanced driver-assistance features enabling seamless integration of hardware and software components. With the rapid evolution of electrified and autonomous vehicles, the Calibration Coordinator ensures that every subsystem meets stringent performance standards, environmental targets, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Calibration Strategy Development: Develop and refine comprehensive calibration strategies for various vehicle subsystems (e.g., engine, transmission, hybrid systems, emission controls, ADAS). Collaborate with engineering, software, and testing teams to align strategies with product roadmaps and regulatory requirements.
  • Calibration Parameter Management: Own the lifecycle of calibration parameters, from initial specification and baseline setup to iterative optimization and final release. Manage data repositories, track changes meticulously, and ensure parameter sets are traceable and well-documented.
  • Testing and Validation: Coordinate and support bench, dyno, and on-road testing activities. Plan and oversee test protocols, analyze results, and work with engineering teams to refine calibrations for optimal vehicle performance, emissions, drivability, and safety.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the central liaison between software developers, systems engineers, hardware teams, and validation specialists. Facilitate effective communication, resolve issues, and synchronize calibration activities across global teams.
  • Supplier and Customer Interface: Engage with Tier 1 suppliers and OEM partners to integrate, adapt, and validate calibration solutions that meet platform-specific requirements. Provide technical support and guidance for customer field issues and warranty investigations.
  • Change Management and Documentation: Ensure rigorous control over calibration changes, versioning, and release approvals. Maintain comprehensive documentation and support compliance with internal quality standards and external regulatory bodies (e.g., EPA, CARB, Euro 6).
  • Data Analysis and Tool Development: Leverage advanced analysis tools (e.g., INCA, CANalyzer, Matlab/Simulink, ETAS) to interpret large datasets and extract actionable insights. Collaborate on the development and maintenance of in-house calibration tools and automation scripts.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance calibration processes, toolchains, and workflows. Champion best practices in data management, test automation, and performance optimization.
  • Training and Mentoring: Provide onboarding, training, and technical mentorship for junior calibration engineers and interns. Create documentation, workshops, and presentations to share knowledge and foster a collaborative learning environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in automotive calibration, powertrain integration, or related systems engineering roles.
  • Solid understanding of internal combustion engines, hybrid/electric powertrains, emission control systems, and/or advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
  • Proficiency with calibration and data analysis tools (ETAS INCA, CANape, Matlab/Simulink, Vector CANalyzer, AVL tools, etc.).
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet) and diagnostic standards (UDS, OBD-II).
  • Experience with test planning, validation cycles, and regulatory certification procedures.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex technical data and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for testing, supplier meetings, or customer support (domestic and international).
  • Excellent problem-solving aptitude, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.

Key Competencies:
  • Analytical Acumen: Ability to dissect large datasets, diagnose root causes of performance deviations, and identify opportunities for calibration refinement.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Integration: Comfortable navigating interdisciplinary teams, spanning hardware, software, controls, and validation.
  • Process Orientation: Commitment to robust change management, version control, and traceability processes.
  • Adaptability: Agility to respond to evolving technical landscapes, regulatory changes, and market trends.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for reports, meetings, and presentations.

Work Environment and Conditions:

  • Dynamic and Collaborative Culture: Engage with cross-functional global teams in a culture that values innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Travel: Occasional domestic/international travel for testing, supplier visits, and technical reviews.
  • Safety and Compliance: Commitment to workplace safety standards and adherence to all relevant regulatory and corporate compliance requirements.

Growth and Development Opportunities:
  • Technical Specialization: Expand into areas such as hybrid systems calibration, autonomous driving features, or emissions control strategies.
  • Leadership: Progress into team leadership, project management, or technical expert tracks.
  • Global Exposure: Work on international platforms and collaborate with leading automotive suppliers and OEMs.
