    Automotive Controller

    Scott Cars is seeking an experienced Automotive Controller to lead the accounting operations of our dealership. This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing all dealership accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance, and partnering with ownership and management to support the continued success of the business.

    The ideal candidate will have previous automotive dealership Controller experience and possess strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and oversee all dealership accounting operations.
    • Manage the month-end and year-end close process, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
    • Prepare and review financial statements while providing accurate and timely reporting to ownership.
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
    • Review and manage payroll processing, commissions, manager bonuses, and payroll accruals.
    • Oversee cash management, bank reconciliations, floor-plan activity, and general ledger reconciliations.
    • Manage dealership financial controls, expense analysis, and account reconciliations.
    • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, insurance renewals, and regulatory compliance.
    • Administer retirement plan reporting, HSA funding, and other accounting-related employee benefit functions.
    • Partner with department managers to resolve accounting and operational issues.
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.

    Qualifications

    • Previous Automotive Dealership Controller experience is required.
    • Strong knowledge of dealership accounting principles and financial reporting.
    • Experience managing an accounting team.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
    • Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) and Microsoft Excel.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
