Position Overview The Automotive Technician/Customer Advisor is an hourly position responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, performing light clerical duties, and assisting with vehicle servicing in a Grease Monkey® center. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Advisory
Greet customers, explain wait times, answer phone inquiries, and assist managers with resolving issues.
Educate drivers on fluid/filter conditions, available services, promotions, and product guarantees.
Review completed service order tickets at checkout, process credit card/cash payments, and thank departing customers.
Encourage customer feedback and manage follow-up quality assurance calls.
Vehicle Service & Courtesy Operations
Perform courtesy, hood, and pit work as needed using the Echo System.
Prep vehicles: place protective seat covers/floor mats, guide vehicles into bays, and perform light checks.
Prepare static reminder stickers, check oil pressure, reset oil indicator lights, and drive vehicles to the customer pickup area.
Assist in documenting vehicle condition, pre-existing damage, or unusual findings.
Center Maintenance & Administration
Maintain the customer waiting area: make fresh coffee, stock supplies, organize seating, and clean restrooms at least three times daily.
Keep the front office tidy, sanitize computers, organize files, stock service tickets, and log vendor shipments.
Perform general shop cleaning, attend crew meetings, wear required safety gear, and run errands as assigned.
Qualifications
Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
Basic literacy, math, keyboarding, and computer entry skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Solid knowledge of automotive systems and ability to explain them clearly to customers.
Experience as a service writer is a plus (pay is based on experience).
Must have reliable transportation.
Physical & Working Conditions
Physical Demand: Standing/walking up to 10 hours a day; frequent climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, and handling. Corrected vision and hearing required.
Environment: Exposure to outdoor weather elements, shop noise, and vehicle exhaust fumes throughout shifts.
