A-Level Diagnostic Technician | $30–$60/Hour + Overtime | Monday–Friday Available | Sherman Oaks, CA

AutoShop Recruiting has partnered with Sherman Oaks Exclusive to hire an experienced A-Level Automotive Diagnostic Technician with exceptional diagnostic ability.

This is not a position for someone who simply reads a trouble code and replaces the most likely part.

We are looking for a technician who understands why a failure occurred, knows how to prove the root cause, and can independently develop a testing strategy before recommending a repair.

European experience is NOT required.

Sherman Oaks Exclusive services a diverse mix of domestic, Asian, European, luxury, and performance vehicles. If you already have strong BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Land Rover, Jaguar, or other European experience, that's a plus—but advanced diagnostic fundamentals matter more than the badge on the hood.

What You'll Diagnose

You should be comfortable independently handling difficult concerns such as:

• Electrical faults and parasitic draws
• Intermittent electrical problems
• CAN/network and communication issues
• Check-engine-light concerns
• Drivability and performance issues
• No-start and hard-start conditions
• Misfires
• Fuel-delivery concerns
• Sensor and actuator problems
• Mechanical failures
• Complex faults involving multiple systems
• Problems that have already been misdiagnosed elsewhere

You won't be expected to guess.

You'll be expected to test, analyze, verify and prove the failure.

What You'll Do

• Perform advanced electrical, mechanical and drivability diagnostics
• Interpret scan-tool data, freeze-frame information and live data
• Use wiring diagrams and technical information to develop testing strategies
• Perform voltage-drop, resistance, current and circuit testing
• Diagnose intermittent and difficult-to-duplicate concerns
• Determine root cause before recommending parts or repairs
• Complete advanced mechanical repairs when required
• Perform thorough digital vehicle inspections
• Clearly document diagnostic findings and recommended repairs
• Communicate findings effectively with the service team
• Verify repairs before returning vehicles to customers
• Work efficiently without sacrificing diagnostic accuracy
• Continue learning new systems, technology and repair procedures

We're looking for a true A-Level technician, not someone who needs another technician to finish the diagnosis.

You should have:

• Strong professional automotive repair experience
• Advanced electrical diagnostic ability
• Strong drivability diagnostic experience
• Ability to diagnose independently from start to finish
• Strong understanding of scan data and testing procedures
• Ability to read and use wiring diagrams
• Ability to develop a logical diagnostic strategy
• Strong mechanical repair capabilities
• Experience using professional diagnostic equipment
• Professional automotive tools appropriate for an A-Level technician
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
• Willingness to learn new vehicle systems and technology
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record

ASE certifications are welcome but diagnostic ability matters more than a certificate.

European experience is welcome but not required.
