Automotive Lube & Tire Technician - Up to $52K & No Weekends

Location: Laytonsville, MD
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $40,000-$52,000 per Year (Depending on Experience)
Pay Type: Hourly
Pay Schedule: Biweekly

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Lube / Tire Technician to join a well-established, family-owned NAPA Auto Care Center in Laytonsville, Maryland. This position is ideal for a technician who is skilled in both preventive maintenance and tire service, including oil changes, fluid services, vehicle inspections, tire mounting and balancing, flat repairs, rotations, and TPMS service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication services, and routine preventive maintenance on passenger and light commercial vehicles
  • Check and top off vehicle fluids, including coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, and windshield washer fluid as appropriate
  • Perform multi-point vehicle inspections and identify maintenance, tire, and safety concerns
  • Inspect belts, hoses, filters, batteries, wiper blades, lights, and other common maintenance items
  • Perform tire mounting, balancing, road force balancing, rotations, tire repairs, and flat repairs
  • Diagnose tire and wheel vibration concerns using Hunter Road Force balancing equipment or comparable systems
  • Mount low-profile, performance, commercial, skid steer, and specialty tires while protecting customer wheels from damage
  • Inspect tires for tread depth, abnormal wear, damage, and overall safety and recommend repair or replacement when appropriate
  • Install and service TPMS sensors, perform relearns, and verify proper system operation
  • Check and adjust tire pressures and torque wheels to manufacturer specifications
  • Communicate identified maintenance and repair needs clearly to the service team
  • Complete assigned services accurately and efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow shop procedures, manufacturer specifications, and established safety standards

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Automotive Lube Technician, Tire Technician, General Service Technician, or similar automotive service professional required
  • Experience performing oil changes, preventive maintenance, vehicle inspections, tire rotations, and other general automotive services
  • Experience with tire mounting, balancing, flat repairs, and tire service
  • Road force balancing experience or experience using Hunter equipment is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of TPMS servicing, tire wear patterns, proper tire repair procedures, and wheel installation
  • Experience servicing commercial, skid steer, or specialty tires is a plus
  • Ability to identify common vehicle maintenance and safety concerns during inspections
  • Ability to safely lift and move tires and automotive components weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy shop environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to assist wherever needed in the shop

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual compensation of $40,000-$52,000, based on experience
