Salary:

$20.77 per hour - commensurate with experience

Terms/Benefits:

2026-2027 School Year

12 month position - 8.0 hours per day

General Information:

Performs routine to moderately difficult work in the servicing and maintenance of automotive vehicles and other equipment under the supervision of the lead automotive mechanic.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in general automotive repair, diesel engine, and automotive maintenance.

  • Experience in electrical systems.

  • Possess or be willing to obtain an Arizona School Bus Driver Certification.

  • ASE Certified or willing to obtain certification in air conditioning systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally.

  • Ability to use power tools, hand tools, electronic testing instruments, and hydraulics.

  • Skills in anti-lock brake systems.

  • Skills in computer diagnostics systems.

  • Skills in wheelchair securement systems.

  • Ability to perform minor and major repairs on vehicles.

  • Ability to repair interior of vehicles.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members.

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.

  • Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.

  • Skills in time management.

Essential Duties & Responsbilities:

  • Performs inspections and completes maintenance, minor and major repairs, tune-ups, overhaul of engines, removal and repair of transmissions and differentials.

  • Replaces or repairs defective parts and installs window glass.

  • Repairs interior of vehicles.

  • Maintains shop equipment and keeps work area clean.

  • Makes service calls for emergency repairs.

  • Checks automotive vehicles for safety compliance.

  • Drives school bus on a route or fieldtrip as needed.
