Automotive Parts Manager

Pay: $18-$20/hour

Location: Shreveport, LA

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30/8:00 AM–5:00/5:30 PM

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Automotive Parts Manager to oversee the daily operations of our parts department. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for managing inventory, sourcing and ordering parts, supporting service technicians and customers, and ensuring the department operates efficiently and profitably.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in automotive or heavy equipment parts, excels at inventory management, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service. This position also provides leadership and support to a small team while maintaining an organized, well-stocked, and efficient parts department.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the parts department to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist walk-in, phone, and internal customers with parts identification, pricing, availability, and ordering.
  • Source, order, receive, and track automotive parts from vendors and suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels through cycle counts, inventory audits, and stock replenishment.
  • Verify incoming shipments and ensure parts are received, stocked, and labeled correctly.
  • Review repair estimates to ensure the correct parts are ordered and priced accurately.
  • Coordinate with the service department to ensure parts are available for scheduled repairs.
  • Process warranty parts and manufacturer warranty claims.
  • Monitor backorders, special orders, and vendor deliveries while communicating updates to customers and technicians.
  • Process sales transactions and maintain accurate parts records and documentation.
  • Organize and maintain inventory, storage areas, and showroom displays.
  • Supervise, train, and support a team of 1–3 employees.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate pricing when appropriate.
  • Monitor inventory performance, obsolete stock, and purchasing trends to maximize profitability.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an automotive, powersports, marine, heavy equipment, or related parts department is required.
  • Previous inventory management and parts ordering experience is required.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts, inventory control, and purchasing processes.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with computers, dealer management systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic are required.
