Job Title: Project Manager
Job Description
This role leads end-to-end industrial and construction-related projects, from feasibility analysis through installation and commissioning, in a manufacturing environment. The Project Manager investigates project feasibility, defines scope, schedule, and budget, develops bid packages and specifications, coordinates cross-functional teams and contractors, and ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while complying with local and national codes.
Responsibilities
- Investigate project feasibility by assessing technical requirements, scope, schedule, and budget to determine project viability.
- Create detailed scopes of work, bid packages, and project specifications that clearly define deliverables, responsibilities, and timelines.
- Review technical drawings and engineering documents, provide clear feedback, and negotiate changes to ensure constructability and alignment with project objectives.
- Evaluate safety compliance with local and national codes and standards, and ensure all project activities follow applicable regulations.
- Collaborate closely with third-party safety compliance contractors to verify and maintain a safe work environment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work with multiple internal and external groups to design and install equipment, ensuring project milestones are clearly defined and achieved.
- Supervise contractors in both greenfield and brownfield environments, providing direction, resolving issues, and ensuring work quality and safety.
- Coordinate installation activities with skilled trades, affiliate companies, engineers, and equipment manufacturers to ensure seamless integration of systems and equipment.
- Develop and implement countermeasures for project delays, proactively addressing risks and obstacles to support timely project completion.
- Manage project documentation, including bid specifications, contracts, and technical drawings, to maintain organized and accurate records.
- Use Microsoft Office and AutoCAD to prepare reports, schedules, drawings, and other project-related documentation.
- Engage in contractor negotiation, including bid evaluation and scope clarification, to secure competitive and accurate proposals.
- Participate in meetings and site observations, including limited international travel, to monitor progress and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Apply mechanical engineering, construction, and project management principles to optimize project outcomes and support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Trader Certification, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years of project management experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or industrial settings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software for project planning, reporting, and communication.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for reviewing and working with technical drawings and layouts.
- Experience in bid specification development and contractor negotiation.
- At least 2 years of experience reviewing technical drawings and providing feedback or changes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience.
- Background in mechanical engineering, construction, construction management, or engineering-related disciplines.
- Experience in some type of management role within the trades or similar supervisory capacity.
- Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to evaluate safety compliance with local and national codes and to work effectively with safety compliance contractors.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams, contractors, and equipment manufacturers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is highly desirable.
- Prior project management experience with automotive or similar large-scale industrial organizations is a plus.
- Experience with automotive paint processes is an advantage.
- Ability to understand and calculate utility costs related to project design and operation.
- Experience working on Toyota-related or similar automotive manufacturing projects is beneficial.
- Familiarity with long-term, multi-year project planning in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop countermeasures for schedule delays and manage project risks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions in dynamic project conditions.
Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite in a manufacturing and industrial project environment. The role involves working in both greenfield and brownfield settings, supervising contractors and coordinating with skilled trades, engineers, and equipment manufacturers. The Project Manager uses tools such as Microsoft Office and AutoCAD regularly to manage documentation, schedules, and technical drawings. Travel is approximately 10%, primarily for meetings and site observations, including occasional international trips to locations such as Canada, Mexico, and Japan. The work culture emphasizes flexible scheduling and work/life balance, with opportunities for long-term, stable contract engagement and potential pathways to full-time roles. The environment supports continuous learning and exposure to complex, large-scale projects, with structured support from account and support teams to advocate for consultants. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
